Against All Odds is perhaps a slightly more mature set that last years Uncle B, but only in the sense that Dappy, Faze and Tulisa are growing up with their audience. I Need You is a sentimental tale of a missed rendezvous, but its told with a narrative cleverness, Tulisa lamenting He left me standing in my LBD and my bang-bang shoes, I was so confused as her prospective partner hunts for his mystery girl on Facebook. Shoulda Put Something On, meanwhile, tackles teenage pregnancy without coming across as bland or preachy. And elsewhere, a string of guest spots prove N-Dubz arent out of their depth rubbing shoulders with leading MCs: Na Na, featuring Wiley, boasts some properly dexterous rapping–and not just from the grime godfather–while Suck Yourself, starring fellow teenage breakout star Chipmunk, is melancholic trance-pop with a hard-hearted centre.
